Chinese Astrology and Feng Shui are two fields of metaphysics in the Chinese art of empowerment for the DIY in all of us. The Chinese has two systems of analyzing energy. One relates to our living space (Feng Shui) and one is within the person (BaZi).

Our living space has energy and it is embodied within the nine sectors of a house. This energy is represented by the nine stars or numbers 1 – 9. Every year, the stars fly into the nine sectors based on Feng Shui formula. Each of the stars exerts its positive or negative effects on the sector it flies into depending on the timeliness of the cycle.

In 2012, star 1 occupies the  bazinga south sector and brings nobility, wisdom and recognition to the occupants in this sector of the house. Star 2 brings illnesses and it afflicts the North sector of the house. Pregnant women, the elderly and infants are advised to stay away from this sector for the year if possible. Star 3 flies into the southwest sector and creates arguments, disputes and legal problems. Star 4 occupies the east sector and infuses it with love, relationship luck and scholastic achievements. Star 5 can lead to accidents, misfortune and calamity. It resides in the southeast sector for the year. Star 6 signifies authority, influence and power. It makes its home in the center of the house. Star 7 is associated with robbery, injury and fraud. It takes up the northwest sector. Star 8 is the most auspicious star of the year and it has a place in the west sector. Star 9 is the star of creativity, happy events and joyous occasions. It flies into the northeast sector.

Beside the Flying stars, you should also look out for the three entities known by their peculiar names, the Grand Duke, the Year Breaker and the Three Killings. These troublesome energies bring havoc to the sectors they occupy in 2012. The Grand Duke rules the southeast sector for the year and its compass direction is 112.6º – 127.5º. A house with a front entrance that faces this direction tends to meet with setbacks and obstacles during the year. Those born in the year of the Dog is said to offend the Grand Duke and are likely to have a challenging year ahead. To avoid triggering the wrath of the Grand Duke, one must not undertake any renovation at the southeast sector of the house.
